An award to honor innovative TCM academics who
are dedicated to scientific discovery

The Cyrus Tang Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Award was established in 2005 to honor aspiring and gifted scientists who are dedicated to innovative research and advancements in TCM. This award aimed to recognize those academics whose work contributes significantly to the scientific discovery and understanding of traditional Chinese medicine.
One of the notable recipients of this prestigious award is Tu Youyou, who won in 2009 and later received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2015 for her groundbreaking discovery of artemisinin, a revolutionary treatment for malaria. The award highlighted the importance of bridging traditional knowledge with modern scientific inquiry, encouraging further exploration in the field. By supporting this initiative, the Cyrus Tang Foundation aimed to inspire future generations of researchers and uphold the legacy of excellence in traditional Chinese medicine.
