Award winning wheat variety adopted worldwide
The Tang Zhongying Wheat Breeding Laboratory provides the school with an advanced scientific research platform for crop breeding, and provides more than 48,600 machine-hour testing services for more than 1,200 teachers and students in more than 430 research groups.
The cultivated Xinong 979 wheat variety has been promoted nationwide with a total area of 150 million mu, with a social and economic benefit of 20 billion yuan, and won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2019. The Xinong 511 wheat variety approved in 2018 has an annual promotion area of more than 5 million mu. In 2020 alone, the school has passed 6 nationally approved wheat varieties and 3 nationally approved corn varieties, which is the best record in history.
